Relationships can be challenging, especially when you add stress and children into the mix. Even the strongest relationships will have their ups and downs. We are going to give a few tips that will help you get past the slump you’re in.

Listen

This is one of the most important tips. Listen to your partner. This sounds simple, but it can be easily overlooked. Your partner is telling you how they feel, whether verbally or through action. If they are expressing their feelings verbally, great. If they aren’t saying how they feel, they are putting off clues. If intimacy and cuddling decreases they are probably not happy. If they want to spend less time with you, there is something wrong. When you notice this, it’s time to have a talk. It could be miscommunication or something more serious. Listen to what they are telling you and work to make those adjustments.

 Cuddle Up

Affection is a great way to bond. Holding hands, kissing, or cuddling up on the couch are all important to the overall health of the relationship. Affection causes feelings of happiness which strengthen the relationship.

 Be Intimate

Yes, intimacy really does improve a relationship. You’ve probably heard this before. This goes hand in hand with cuddling. Intimacy increases the bond that a couple has.  It produces reactions that cause happiness. Life can be hectic and you may not feel like you have time, but make time for it. Take things slow and take time to enjoy foreplay. Its ok for it to be rushed sometimes, but not every time should be quick.

Exercise Together

This may sound odd, but it’s true. For most people exercising is not a fun thing, but it does release endorphins, which make you happy. Also, when you finish a workout, you feel a sense of reward and accomplishment. If you do this as a couple, you will associate that person with that sense or happiness and reward. It is another way to strengthen your bond.

Be Thoughtful

Try to go out of your way to do something nice daily and no less than weekly. This doesn’t have to be anything over the top. It can be something small, like picking up their favorite food for dinner. You can help with chores that your partner usually handles, like dishes or laundry. Leave a sweet note in their car or in their wallet, so that they get a sweet reminder of you. Don’t forget to tell them that you appreciate them. Sometimes we forget to say those actual words. It will really go a long way to boost their self-esteem.

It is important to take a look at your relationship, so that you can find ways to improve it. If you have a good relationship, there are things you can do to make it great. If it’s in a rough spot, this is the perfect time to implement these tips. Find a way to let your partner know how important they are to you through words and actions.
