When you have to get a blog done or you’re in the middle of writing a new book, writer’s block can destroy your motivation to get your project done. However, writer’s block doesn’t have to be the end-all-be-all. There are plenty of ways that you can overcome writer’s block and get to writing again. However, it’s been shown that when you take a break from writing to drink a cup of coffee or strong tea, you are not only going to be more awake. This time away from your writing is going to give your brain a break and allow your creative mind to flow easier.

2. Try Writing Down Whatever Comes to Your Mind for A 5 Minutes

A stream of conscious writing session might be in the cards if you can’t seem to get anything typed out. This means that you spend about 5 to 10 minutes just writing down whatever comes to your mind, without picking up the pen or pencil. This gives your brain the opportunity to spill out whatever is there – you might end up with a great idea or two!

3. Go Out for A Walk in The Woods

Going out into nature and taking a walk or run in the woods is a great way to get that creativity flowing. Spend some time in the great outdoors and you’d be surprised at what you might think up.

4. Just Sit Out in The Sun for A Bit and People-Watch

Sitting outside in the sunshine and people watching is a great way to get over that writer’s block. When you people watch, you’re going to start making stories of these people and you might come across a story that you can write about.

5. Take Regular Breaks from Writing

It’s been shown that writing for hours on end is no good for your mental health and creativity levels. You are going to be much more productive and produce much more high-quality writing when you take short breaks every hour or so.

6. Do Something Else That’s Creative

If you’re having trouble writing, then it’s a good idea to spend some time doing something else that’s creative. No matter what it is, another creative activity is going to allow you to think in other ways and see other perspectives.

7. Move Your Body in Some Way

Another fantastic way to get over that writer’s block is to move your body in some way. Whether this be by going to the gym, going for a run, or having a yoga session, moving your body in some way is a fantastic way to get the blood flowing to your brain and improving your creativity.

8. Eliminate All of The Potential Distractions Around You

Distractions abound whenever you’re writing. That’s why it can be so tough to get over that writer’s block. Make sure that there are no distractions around you (social media, your phone, other people) that are going to keep you from writing.

9. Eat Some Nutritious Food

Eating some brain food is one of the best ways that you can get that creativity flowing again. Foods like blueberries, spinach, and eggs are going to help fuel your brain.

10. Start Writing Early in The Morning

And lastly, if you want to beat the writer’s block, start writing early in the morning. This is when your brain is going to give out the most creativity and when you can get a ton of writing done before everyone else wakes up.
