Share, Donate, Gift – Do it all to Multiply Your Christmas Joy

So the Christmas season is upon us and it is a time when people tend to be in a jollier mood than usual. It’s one of the best times in the year as office workloads are lighter, parents are less strict, and people generally get to spend more time bonding with family and loved ones.

But just because Christmas is the most popular holiday in the world, it doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone is in the best of spirits. In fact, global trends indicate that more people show apathy towards the holiday season now than ever before, which could be why there so much bad news in the world today pouring out on a daily basis. And no matter how joyous and peaceful your home or office might be during the Christmas season, you’re always going to find the odd Scrooge, and maybe even a Grinch.

With the economic doldrums and relatively harsher living conditions, it’s no big surprise that people lack the usual vigor during Christmas season, and tend to lose sight of the true meaning of the holidays. A lot of people can get side-tracked by physical or personal issues, but that doesn’t mean that they’re bad people; probably they are just in a bad situation and in need of some cheering up. So, here’s a list of some of the ways in which you can help spread the joy of Christmas:

1. Donate

Most people live excessively busy lives and don’t really have the time or money to go out of their way to volunteer for a cause. But no matter how little you think you have to offer, almost everybody has those clothes they no longer wear, or a pair of shoes that don’t fit. And the truth is that there’s almost always someone worse off than you; those that have nothing from clothes on their backs or a roof over their head. On top of this, it simply isn’t possible to describe the joy that can come from donating some old, but wearable clothes and other items that you might no longer have any use for.

2. Send an E-card

Christmas time can be tough for those that are far away from their family and loved ones. They might be too busy to come and join in the festivities, but that doesn’t mean that they have to be left out. Sharing the joy of Christmas by sending online greeting cards is a great way to spread the holiday cheer. And if you think that email e-cards are out of fashion, know that all major social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. allows users to post online greeting cards through them.

3. Share/Cook a Meal

Sharing a takeaway or home cooked meal with someone is not only a sign of generosity and good will, but truly touches the lives of many people who don’t have friends or family to spend time with. Breaking bread with another person, known or unknown, solidifies the relationships and creates a bond. To really spread the jot of the season, try cooking or ordering some traditional Christmas dishes, such as a roasted turkey, or maybe even a Christmas log.

4. Make Amends

Having enemies or holding a grudge against someone is never a good feeling, whether it’s a family member or someone at work. It can lead to big fights over irrelevant issues, and a bitter battle to keep putting the other person down. And whoever said “revenge is sweet” has probably never really tried to forgive or ask for forgiveness. Getting rid of one’s hatred or negative feelings during Christmas time can bring a sense of peace and tranquility like nothing else. So go ahead, forgive and be forgiven because the person you consider your enemy could end up being a life-long friend.

5. Decorate

It might be obvious for some, but nothing spreads the joy of Christmas like a beautifully decorated home, office, or even street. That doesn’t just mean that you should stuff your house with a tree in every corner, but you should offer to help decorate the home of a poorer neighbor or a low-income neighborhood. Devoting time to decorate your home and that of those who are incapable of doing it themselves is truly rewarding and also one of the best ways of spreading Christmas cheer!
