Slow Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

By cooking this all day in a slow-cooker, you'll avoid that dried-out corned beef of days past.


  • 4 lb orned beef brisket with spice packet
  • 4 large carrots, peeled and cut julienne
  • ½ head cabbage, coarsely chopped
  • 10 small red potatoes, washed and quartered
  • 1 large onion, peeled and cut into bite-sized strips
  • 4 cups water
  • 6 ounces beer or club soda


  • Wash, peel and cut carrots and onion. Place in slow cooker
  • Cut and wash cabbage. Place in slow cooker.
  • Wash and quarter red potatoes. Place in slow cooker.
  • Pour water into slow cooker.
  • Place brisket on top.
  • Pour soda (beer) on top of brisket.
  • Sprinkle spice packet over brisket.
  • Cover and cook on high.
  • Cook for 8 hours, checking often and basting if necessary.
  • At 8 hour mark, stir in cabbage.
  • Cook an additional hour.
