If you live in Indiana, then you know we’ve had a crazy winter! Snow, thunderstorms, tornado warnings, flooding – oh, Indiana!
Even though I really enjoy living in an area where I can enjoy the changing of all four seasons, I’m really looking forward to spring this year. The winter has just been so odd, and I’m ready for sunnier days.
A few days ago, the kids and I celebrated spring’s return with a trip to the Indianapolis Zoo during their xZooberance celebration.
We would like to thank the Indianapolis Zoo for providing us with complimentary entrance to attend this activity. All opinions are our own.
I love their description…
Winter’s magical. Let’s watch it disappear.
“After another long Indiana winter, we could all use a little xZOOberance. Join us for a spring festival featuring 12 days of fun — no matter what you’re looking for. Need a place for the kids to blow off steam and overcome a little cabin fever? We’ve got huge outdoor musical instruments, animal matching games and creative crafts like a fun springtime pinwheel to mesmerize some little eyes. Seeking your next epic photo op? Head to the Bicentennial Pavilion for unforgettable décor, live music and dancing, along with spring-centric art and activities. And, of course, don’t miss encounters with animals—including chickens and goats. With this much to see and do, there’s no question: It’s time to say sayonara to winter and ring in the season we’ve all been waiting for.”
This was one of our first outings where we didn’t need to bundle up and deal with crazy weather – and so we took a lot of time to roam through the different areas they have set up for xZooberance, enjoying the music, food, and activities.

After making our way through all of the activities, we continued through the park to visit our favorite Indianapolis Zoo residents. It was still a little chilly, so many of the animals weren’t out and about. We did get a tip from an employee that we’re most likely to see the animals when the temperature is at least 45°.

Additional Activities: Decorate a Kite, Make a Pinwheel, and Discovery Cart.

My favorite thing to do at the Indianapolis Zoo is to head over to the St. Vincent Dolphin Pavilion to see the show. We got to see the new show, and it was beautiful! It was also a nice place to slip in out of the chilly weather.
