Filling our weekends with festivals and travel has become a hallmark of our fall calendar. One of our favorites is the Ohio Renaissance Festival, where for an afternoon we are transported back in time. Further back in time than most festivals – All the way back to a 16th century English village complete with knights, jousting, giant turkey legs, and more!
If you’ve never been, check out the quick video below for a sneak peak at their setup and activities.
This series of living history festivals is packed with action. The village bustles with strolling musicians, singers, dancers, and storytellers. I LOVE browsing through the vast number of merchant shops (100+) while the kids try to visit each of the stages set up throughout the village.
One activity we dare not miss – the joust! We love cheering our favorite knight to victory as he competes for the queen’s honor.
The kids enjoy “eating like kings” as they feast on giant turkey legs, steak on a stick and bread bowl stews.
The sprawling village of the Ohio Renaissance Festival is complete with 12 stages for your entertainment, and a unique open-air shopper’s marketplace that boasts more than 100 merchants and demonstrating craftsmen. Check out the games of skill and human-powered rides – they’re amazingly entertaining! See if you’re a modern-day Robin Hood by trying your hand at archery or climb the castle tower and rescue the lovely damsel in distress.
