How to Make Salisbury Steak with Mushrooms

Salisbury Steak with Mushrooms

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 40 minutes
Servings 4 patties

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)
  • 1/3 Cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 Cup onions (chopped)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 Cups beef broth
  • 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 Cup sliced mushrooms
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 Tbsp cold water

Instructions 

  • In large bowl, mix together: beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper
  • Shape into four 3/4 inch patties
  • In a large skillet, over medium heat, brown patties on both sides. Approximately 10 minutes
  • Add broth, sliced onion, and mushrooms. Bring to a boil
  • Reduce heath, cover and simmer until patties are cooked (165°)
  • Move patties to separate dish to keep warm
  • Bring broth mixture back to a boil.
  • Mix cold water, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Stir into broth
  • Cook until it has become a thick gravy
  • Pour over patties to serve
